We hope that you all had a lovely summer and are ready for the 2023-2024 academic year. We have been carefully planning a fun and exciting curriculum for the year ahead.
In year 4, we have classes 4, 5 and 6.
Class 4 – Mrs Hipkin and Mrs Mellor (Miss Varley will teach on Fridays)
Class 5 – Miss Mahmood and Mrs Cookson
Class 6 – Mrs Heywood and Mr Ahmed
Miss Begum and Miss Hussain will also be in year 4!
Autumn 1 2023
This half term our topic is:
PLANET EARTH
This half term we will begin with our Science unit: Living Things and their Habitats. We will be looking classifying and grouping animals into groups. Year 4 will learn how to organise different animals into catergories. We will look at food chains and how different living things have different roles in the circle of life. We will then go one to look at Fairtrade and Sustainability and how we can care for and look after the world around us.
This will be enhanced with in our Reading and Writing lessons.
Our Reading texts for this term will be:
Iron Man, Iron Woman, Planet Earth Texts
We will be completeing a character description and a non- chronological report (information text) about animals.
In Art, we will be looking at recycling and how we can use junk to create pieces of Art.
Please save your empty bottles and lids, cereal boxes and egg boxes for our Art sessions.
