A Message from the Governing Body
The Main Roles of the Governing Body
• To maintain a strategic view. To focus on whole school improvement through support and challenge so that our children will learn effectively and achieve the highest standards.
• To act as a critical friend. To provide the head teacher and staff with support, advice and information, drawing upon governors’ knowledge and experience. It is the governing body’s responsibility to monitor and evaluate the school’s effectiveness and to promote the interests of the school and wellbeing of the children.
• To ensure accountability. The governing body is responsible for ensuring good quality education in school. The head teacher and staff report to the governing body on the school’s performance which are then discussed and questioned. The professional roles and responsibilities of the head teacher and staff are always respected. The governing body is responsible for its actions to the parents and the wider local community for the school’s overall performance.
We feel privileged to be part of Alexandra Park Junior School which is such a caring and welcoming place for our staff and children. Our highly skilled and enthusiastic staff create a stimulating and exciting learning environment. The atmosphere in the school and the enthusiasm with which the children have for their work, as well as the high quality of work that is strived for, makes us, as governors, very proud of our school. We have the greatest confidence in recommending our school to you for your child and hope that you will come to experience for yourself all the wonderful things we have to offer.
